2011 - the challenge

I am not a foodie. I burn toast at a drop of a hat and if I had to choose between a nice home cooked meal made "a la me", or takeaway by Mr McDonald, I would choose the later.

However, as I sat down last night after a discussion with my husband about resolutions for 2011, I realised throughout this year fast food/takeaway, no matter how healthy, had become such an integral part of my families life and it was time I should learn how to cook real food. With a son now thrown into the family household, I could no longer live "the couples dream", going to the pub after work or grabbing chinese on the way home. It was time to start living healthy.

So here was the challenge.

In 2011 I would have loved to try one new recipe everyday, although this may be feasible when I am at home with my son, it may not be the case when I am back at work full time. So instead I am opting for 4 recipes a week. Instead of a 365 recipe Blog- I am trying to just get to 208.... I would be stoked if I get to 200 to be honest- my husband is convinced that this will petter out after January like most resolutions. The other resolution to this is that takeaway should be had once a month. Not 3 times a week, or even once a week. It should be reserved for a special occasion not everyday use. Hopefully, in doing so, I may be able to lose some more post baby kilo's.

So the plan is to write my thoughts on a recipe I will try and hopefully, if my camera is charged and nearby, provide a photo of the final result- no matter how disastrous it comes out.

Hopefully, along the way I will be able to also learn techniques so that boiled egg actually is boiled!
